I saw a piece that Jose Vega did for his Brainstorm class that featured pond lillies and I wanted to have a go myself.
I thought I'd use it as an excuse to try out a bunch of technical things in Blender and Meshroom:
- volume absorption/scattering for the water so that it felt like it had some depth and muck in it
- multiple particle systems to put various vegetation sitting on the surface of the water but also within it
- and Meshroom to do quick and easy photogrammetry so that I can pop 3D figures that have exactly the pose I want
Meshroom gives quite blobby meshes for me at the moment. It doesn't matter too much but I think I might go back and photobash a hand in
